Engineeering Academy
-
Mission Statement
Believing that all students can achieve given rigorous coursework, the Career Pathway: Engineering will guide its students to:
- Become aware of career opportunities and entrepreneurship in the engineering fields including the core learning requirements for those careers,
- Instill a sense of belonging by finding their own strengths to prepare them in life, and
- Master the learning to become a productive member of society.
Courses- Principles of Applied Engineering: Grade 9 This course will provide students an opportunity to investigate engineering and high tech careers. Students will employ engineering and scientific concepts in the solution of engineering design problems. Students will develop problem-solving skills and apply their knowledge of research and design to create solutions to various challenges. Students will also learn how to documents their work and communicate their solutions to their peers and members of professional community.
- Engineering Design and Presentation: Grade 10 Students enrolled in this course will demonstrate knowledge and skills of the process of design as it applies to engineering fields using multiple software applications and tools necessary to produce and present working drawings, solid model rendering, and prototypes. Students will use a variety of computer hardware and software applications to complete assignments and projects. Additionally, students explore career opportunities in engineering, technology, and drafting and what is required to gain and maintain employment in these areas.
- Robotics: Grade 11 This course demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary for the robotic and automation industry. Through implementation of the design process, students transfer advanced academic skills to complete designs in a project-based environment. Students build prototypes or use simulation software to test their designs. Additionally, students explores career opportunities, employer expectations, and educational needs in the robotic and automation industry.
- Problem Solving in Engineering: Grade 12 This is an independent-study capstone course offered to 12th grade students on the four year engineering track. In this course, students will be required to design and implement a solution to a problem identified in their community. They will apply the skills learned in previous courses to aid them in the design process.
