• Crespo Elementary is a Houston Independent School District magnet school for Fine Arts. Located conveniently at the corner of Loop 610 and I45 South, Crespo is easily accessible and just minutes away from all parts of the city. All students at Crespo benefi t from a rigorous curriculum in mathematics, reading, writing, science, and social studies with a strong emphasis placed on literacy across all subject areas. It is our goal that students learn how to analyze information, listen with an open mind, solve problems together and communicate clearly what they understand. These are the skills students will need for work, leadership and continuous learning in the 21st Century.

    Mr. Manuel Crespo  Manuel Crespo (1903–1989) was a native of Spain who moved to America following the death of his father when  he was 16. He settled in Houston in 1923 and became the city’s first Hispanic police officer in 1940. Crespo also cofounded Chapter #60 of the League of United Latin-American Citizens (LULAC) and ran a funeral home for  more than 50 years on Navigation Street. The school was named after him in  January 1992.
