FBMS is one of only a handful of middle school's in HISD to feature LCDC (Leadership Citizenship Development Corps) as part of its curriculum. The class emphasizes the importance of discipline, leadership, good citizenship and a positive attitude. In addition to themes of responsibility and public service, the course includes marching, performance-oriented military skills training and several components similar to a junior ROTC program. FBMS has an active color guard through LCDC which is available to make presentations at area functions.a
