Wendy Hampton was named principal of Heights High School in 2017 after serving four years as the principal at Hamilton Middle School. Prior to that she served as an assistant principal at Sam Houston High School for 3.5 years. Just prior to being named principal of AHMS, she served as an assistant principal at Deady Middle School also in HISD. Hampton hails from Hughes Springs, a town of 1,856 residents in Northeast Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler and taught mathematics in smaller districts in Northeast Texas for five years before becoming a math teacher at Cinco Ranch High School in Katy. After earning a Master’s Degree from the University of Houston, Ms. Hampton became a math specialist with HISD’s middle schools with what was known at the time as the East Region. Ms. Hampton is currently in her 20th year in education. In her time outside of public education, Ms. Hampton enjoys spending time with her 7 year old twin boys, doing almost anything outdoors, and watching the Texans.
