The programs of Ross S. Sterling Aviation High School are designed to develop each student's full potential for academic growth, emotional wellbeing, health, and physical wellness. Recognizing that this can’t be accomplished in isolation, the home and school must work as partners to help students become effective citizens in the global society in which they live. Therefore,
The School Staff will:
• Provide an environment that allows for positive communication between the teacher, parent, and student.
• Provide homework assignments to students.
• Provide necessary assistance to parents so that they can help with assignments.
• Provide a safe learning environment that is conducive for learning.
• Provide a challenging academic environment to help students reach their full potential.
• Provide highly qualified teachers that are well prepared and equipped with strategies that will make learning interesting and fun.
• Provide regular progress reports about students' academic progress to parents regularly.
• Provide educational activities that are appropriate for your child.
• Post current information on the school's website to keep parents and students informed.
Parents will:
• See that my child is punctual and attends school every day.
• Support the school in its efforts to maintain proper discipline.
• Establish a time for homework and review regularly.
• Provide a quiet, well-lighted place for study.
• Encourage my child's efforts and be available for questions.
• Stay aware of what my child is learning.
• Talk to my child about school; and homework assignments daily.
• Help my student meet their responsibilities.
• Attend parent conference and student activities.
• Ask questions of and make suggestions to school staff.
• Communicate regularly with my child's teachers.
Students will:
• Come to class on time every day and be prepared to work.
• Demonstrate their best efforts in their class assignments and projects.
• Complete homework in a timely manner and to the best of their ability.
• Respect the diversity, personal space, and property of others.
• Respect and cooperate with all adults in the school.
• Spend time at home or the library daily studying or reading.
• Participate in a challenging academic environment that helps me reach my full potential.
• Attend school regularly.
• Come to school each day with a pencil, pens, paper, and other necessary tools for learning.
• Conform to the rules of student conduct.
