• Summer Reading
     
    1)  Summer Reading Assignments are required for all Long Academy students.  Students should be prepared to submit their projects during the first week of school.  All books can be found at Houston Public Library, Harris County Library, and/or your local bookstore.  If you have any questions, please e-mail the Long Academy Librarian at jmyers1@houstonisd.org
     
     
    2)  Students can also participate in reading programs for the chance to win awesome prizes.  Read below for more information.
     
    Millionaire Club
     
    The Millionaire Club is a coordinated effort by the Department of Library Services and Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment to keep HISD students reading over the summer months.  The title came from the reading goal that was set: 200,000 HISD students reading 5 books over the summer for a total of one million books.

     

    Jane Long participates in the Millionaire Club initiative each year, so students should be prepared to submit their forms in September!  There is no need to register for this program.

      

     
    Houston Public Library 
     
    Join the "Go Under Cover" reading program with the Houston Public Library.  The John P. McGovern Foundation Summer Reading Program is free and rewards reading with a free book and the chance to win even more prizes.  Click HERE to register.
