If a student is taking an HCC class taught by an HCC professor (one that is not an HISD employee), you will notice there is no grade on progress reports or report cards. We get the final grade from HCC and input it straight to their transcript.

If a class is dual credit, all grades (including those on report cards and progress reports) are really like progress reports the entire time. The purpose of the one grade you see is to give you a snapshot of how the student is doing.

However, it is very important you do not rely on this grade as anything more than a snapshot in this moment in time. Please review the course syllabus, which is more telling of how final grades will be calculated. In some cases, the HCC final exam carries significant weight when determining the final HCC grade. Professors are bound by policies set forth by their department chairs and deans.

Once Challenge Early College High School receives the final HCC grade, it will be posted to the student's transcript.

Also, be advised that students receive quality GPA points for all dual credit courses.
