Our primary aim is to promote to a maximum degree the musical intelligence and potential of each student through active participation in all genres of music in large and small ensemble settings, group and individual technical instruction, and interaction with performing artists.  In addition to the development of musical skills, students learn positive, professional work ethics, and become responsible citizens.

The Westbury High School Instrumental Department is made up of around 200 students in our award-winning Band, Jazz, Guitar, Piano, and our newly added String Programs. Our mission is to provide students with rigorous musical training, foster an appreciation for the arts, and guide them on their journey towards graduation and post-graduation studies as potential future performers and arts advocates. These skills can be implemented not only in the musical realm but, can transition and be useful in all fields of study.
