River Oaks Elementary Roadrunner’s Nest (ROE RN)

Days of Operation on days school is in session:  August 12, 2024 - June 4, 2025

Registration via schoolpay begins Monday, July 1

ROE RN is a tuition-based after-school program on days school is in session offering Extended Day for K through 5th Grade students from 2:45 pm - 6:30 pm, with several extended day options available. The Extended Day Options are: Full Time Plus 2:45-6:30; Full Time 2:45-6:00; Half Time 2:45-5:15; Occasional Full Time 2:45-6:30 and Occasional Half Time 2:45-5:15 (sold in increments of 5 Days/Units). Specialty classes offered by HISD Approved Vendors will be announced by the end of August.  All Extended Day Staff are HISD Employees fully trained and follow all safety guidelines.

You are required to fill out the following: 

1.            You must complete the item REQUIRED Registration Form posted on schoolpay (www.schoolpay.com/link/roern2425).  This item requires you to enter all contact info, as well as all adults you authorize to pick up your child.  Upon completing this item, you are also acknowledging you have read the Parent Agreement/Guidelines listed on this item.

2.            You must purchase the following:  One Time Registration Fee; One Time Fall 2024 Supply Fee

3.            Purchase the Extended Day Option you need (Full Time Plus until 6:30 OR Full Time until 6:00 OR Half Time until 5:15 OR Occ Full Time until 6:30 OR Occ Half Time until 5:15).  Extended Day begins Monday, August 12 and ends June 4. The link to schoolpay is:  www.schoolpay.com/link/roern2425  When you view schoolpay, YOU MUST read all of the information listed.  Every item is super important.  (Occasional Ext Day is set up for those who ONLY need 1-2 days/week of Extended Day Service.  If you select this option, you are required to email your child’s classroom teacher and ROE RN Administration at least 1 school day prior to needing the service.)

4.            There is a payment schedule listed on schoolpay.  The due date for each monthly payment is listed next to each month.  Also, as a reminder to yourself, include these dates on your calendar.  We will not send out reminder notices.  This is your responsibility.

5.            For all who have been registered in prior years in ROE RN, be sure you have a zero balance on your current account before you register for new classes.  If you need a statement, email us:  roecoordinator1@sbcglobal.net

6.            SchoolPay is the only method HISD has set up for schools to use for purchases. Thus, ROE RN is set up via schoolpay.   Again, the link is: www.schoolpay.com/link/roern2425

7.            NEW STUDENTS planning to attend River Oaks Elementary:  Parents, you will not find your child listed.  You will register as a guest to fill out the required registration form. 

ROE RN Extended Day and Enrichment Schedule:

2:45-3:30     Snacks/Homework Study Sessions

3:30-4:30     1st Hour Activities Indoor/Outdoor Activities on Mondays-Fridays to include Homework Study Time (taught by our ROE RN HISD Employees).

4:30-6:00     2nd Hour Indoor/Outdoor Activities on Mondays-Fridays (taught by our ROE RN HISD Employees).

Note below the final pick up time dependent on the Extended Day Option you register for.  You are welcome to pick up your child anytime up to the end time of your option.

5:15   Final pick up time for students registered in Half Time Extended Day

6:00   Final pick up time for students registered in Full Time Extended Day

6:30   Final pick up time for students registered in Full Time Plus Extended Day

NOTE Homework Study Time: Offered solely for students registered in Extended Day.  The purpose of Homework Study Time is to provide a quiet environment with fellow students who are also in need of working on their homework (homework assigned by their classroom teachers).  Please understand that Homework Study Time is not set up as tutoring sessions.  Our staff is available to clarify instructions in regards to your child’s homework.  However, if your child does not understand the general concept of the assigned homework, you will be advised for you to visit with your child’s teacher so that further instruction may be given to your child for a better understanding of the assignment.  Re-teaching of the lesson by the school teacher may be necessary. 

Outdoor/Indoor Activities: HISD Guidelines will be adhered to for safety purposes. 

Pick UP Policy

It is imperative that you be prepared to present a valid form of ID (ID with your picture); the ROE RN Staff will only release your child to you, the parent/guardian and the adults you list on the REQUIRED River Oaks Elementary Roadrunner’s Nest Registration Form 2024-2025 via schoolpay.  According to HISD Policy, an adult is someone 18 years of age or older.  We will not release your child to anyone under the age of 18.  Please inform the individuals you list on this registration form. 

Late Pick UP

Please pick up your child on time according to the option you have registered for. Late Pick Up Fees will be assessed @ $2.00/minute.

The ROE RN Office is currently closed until August 1.
