• Attendance / Absences

All students must report to school before 9:30am to be counted present for that school day.

It is the parent’s legal duty for their student(s) to attend school regularly.  Please monitor your student’s attendance/absences and request a conference with school officials to discuss any attendance concerns. A student may have no more than eight unexcused absences during the school year. When a student returns to school after an absence, a written excuse is required, signed by the parent/guardian, stating the reason for the absence. This excuse must be presented to the teacher within three days of the student’s return to school. Eight (8) days of unexcused absences will result in failure for the student, regardless of academic status (passing, failing). Subjects will be flagged by an asterisk (*). Students with excessive absences and/or tardies will be referred to the school Attendance Committee.

Notifications will be distributed to parents for students that establish patterns of excessive absences and/or tardies from school. If absences and/or tardy concerns continue, the administrative team may request a home visit to determine the nature of the attendance problem and/or offer support to the family.  Any extreme cases of excessive absences may result in a referral to the Harris County Court system.
