Dr. Shelbi Blackmon brings 21 years of educational experience, including 19 years with Houston ISD, and is excited to continue the incredible work at Lawson Middle School.

Before joining Lawson, Dr. Blackmon served as an assistant principal at Milby High School, where she supported the Career and Technical Education (CTE) and English 3 and 4 departments. She is also a member of the inaugural cohort of the Principal Academy.

Her diverse professional background includes roles as an instructional technologist, STEM specialist, and classroom teacher. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Sam Houston State University, a master’s degree in educational technology leadership from Lamar University, and a doctoral degree in executive educational leadership from Houston Baptist University.

Dr. Blackmon believes that student success is rooted in dedicated educators who advocate for their learning. She remains committed to fostering academic excellence and supporting both students and teachers at Lawson MS.
