Meets: Meetings are held on Mondays (the first Monday of the Month) during lunch.

Fees: $10 dues. This money is due at the beginning of each school year.

Procedure for Joining: Any second semester sophomore, junior or senior who has a 3.75 cumulative G.P.A. by the time senior GPAs are locked in will receive an application to apply. The application for NHS focuses on the areas of Character, Leadership, Scholarship and Service. Each application that is submitted is reviewed and then given a score in the categories of Character, Leadership, Scholarship and Service by the faculty council of Chavez High School. Each candidate’s scores are calculated and then given an overall score. The NHS Faculty Council meets to review each candidate’s application and overall score. The NHS Faculty Council then votes. The candidate will be notified by mail of his/her acceptance or rejection into NHS by individual letter.
