Greetings!!  My name is Gabriela Reyes-Flores and I am a teacher at Stevens Elementary School.  I am very happy to be able to work with the students, parents and community of HISD. I cherish the opportunity to be able to work with an amazing first year group of students in their initial stages of their education career.   My goal is to provide a memorable educational experience to every child in my classroom! 

Educational Experience 

This is my 11th year teaching at Houston Independent School District. I am HISD.  I’m happy to be part of this amazing district.  My educational journey began at Memorial Elementary, placed where I was inspired to be a teacher. My inspiration for teaching continued throughout Hogg Middle School and Lamar High School all within the HISD district.  I was able to take my first steps into teaching by attending Houston Community College and then enrolling into the University of Houston-Downtown, in which I successfully achieve my goal of becoming a teacher.  

Why I Became a Teacher 

At the age of 8 my family and I immigrated to the United States, in search for a better life.  Upon entering elementary school, I struggle with my education due to the language barrier.  However, because of teachers such as Mrs. Ibarra, Mrs. McCall and Mrs. Wright that took the time to work with me to become successful and to never give up and achieve my goal of becoming a bilingual schoolteacher.  Now it is my turn to give back, by being that teacher that can lead a student to achieve their dreams. 

My Interest and Hobbies 

My world revolves around my family.  I love to create memories through a variety experiences such as a simple lunch or dinner to something fun and exciting when traveling.  I enjoyed anything connected to the Arts: including music, museums and plays.

Mi nombre es Gabriela Reyes-Flores soy maestra en la escuela Primaria Stevens. Estoy muy feliz de poder trabajar con los estudiantes, los padres y la comunidad de HISD. Aprecio la oportunidad de poder trabajar con un increíble grupo de estudiantes en las etapas iniciales de su carrera educativa. ¡Mi objetivo es brindar una experiencia educativa memorable a todos los niños de mi salón de clases! 

Experiencia educacional 

Este es mi undécimo año enseñando en el Distrito Escolar Independiente de Houston. Yo soy HISD. Estoy feliz de ser parte de este increíble distrito. Mi viaje educativo comenzó en Memorial Elementary, lugar donde me inspiré para ser maestra. Mi inspiración para la enseñanza continuó en Hogg Middle School y Lamar High School, todas dentro del distrito de HISD. Pude dar mis primeros pasos en la enseñanza asistiendo a Houston Community College y luego matriculándome en la Universidad de Houston-Downtown, en la que logré con éxito mi objetivo de convertirme en maestra.  

Por qué me convertí en maestro  

A los 8 años mi familia y yo emigramos a Estados Unidos en busca de una vida mejor. Al ingresar a la escuela primaria, lucho con mi educación debido a la barrera del idioma. Sin embargo, gracias a maestros como la Sra. Ibarra, la Sra. McCall y la Sra. Wright que se tomaron el tiempo para trabajar conmigo para tener éxito y nunca rendirse y lograr mi meta de convertirme en una maestra bilingüe. Ahora es mi turno de retribuir, siendo ese maestro que puede llevar a un alumno a alcanzar sus sueños.  

Mi interés y aficiones  

Mi mundo gira en torno a mi familia. Me encanta crear recuerdos a través de una variedad de experiencias, como un simple almuerzo o cena o algo divertido y emocionante viaje. Disfruto de todo lo relacionado con las artes: incluyendo la música, los museos y las obras de teatro.
