Coaches, Team Practice, & Parent Volunteer Opportunities

Classroom teachers and/or Parents may serve as coaches for our UIL teams. Practices are determined by each coach as appropriate to the contest preparation needs.  Students will also be expected to study and prepare independently as well.

We are always open to opportunities for parent volunteers.

All participating schools are required to provide great parent volunteers to serve as Test Proctors, Graders, and/or Speech Judges on competition days.  Having several volunteers throughout the contest day will make the competition run more smoothly and end on time. If your student is competing, please plan to volunteer a few hours of your time on each contest date. In addition, each team will need at least one team parent to aid in team communications, co-coaches, snacks/treats/games donations for competitions days, backup travel help, and specific team support, as asked by the coaches.

Emails with instructions for this process will be sent out before each competition.

    Competition Dates and Registration Information

T.H. Rogers will compete in four competitions this year! Registration for each individual competition will be completed by the UIL Coordinator two weeks prior to each contest date and specific contest times will be issued.

    Other Important Details

Parents will be responsible for bringing their children to the competition site at least one hour prior to their contest start time. Students will need to bring necessary materials specific to their contests as determined by each coach. Students only need to stay for the duration of their contest. Coaches and Parent Volunteers will also send out picture updates and messages via Email and classroom dojo!
