Mr. Ugbo

  • Ebi Kalu Ugbo is a passionate and hardworking special education teacher with over 14 years of experience in the SPED classroom. He has taught in elementary, secondary and post-secondary schools for students with disabilities.

    He is a certified and certificated SPED teacher with Bachelor and Master’s degrees in special education from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He is a member of the Nigeria Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET), American Federation of Teachers (AFT). Houston Federation of Teachers (HFT), Educational Sign Language Interpreters Association of Nigeria (ESLIAN) among others.

    He has written and published books and articles in scholarly journals. Some of his books include:

    • Understanding Special Needs Education
    • The Poultry Child (Telling The Inclusive Story)
    • Talking Hands: An Introduction to Sign Language in Special Education
    • The Mortality of Fear

    He is fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and currently teaching in an SLC ALT (Autism) setting in Jones Futures Academy, Houston Independent School District (HISD).

    He is married with children.
