About Our Program
Our Magnet Program focuses on the health sciences and prepares students for careers in the health and medical fields. In addition to the required Texas curriculum, students take Neuroscience in 6th grade, Scientific Decision-Making in 7th grade and Principles of Bioscience (HS CTE credit) in 8th grade. We offer a rigorous HISD Advanced curriculum that includes opportunities for our students to earn high school credit and collaborate with medical industry leaders from Baylor College of Medicine on a regular basis.
We also offer extracurricular activities such as, HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America), TSA (Technology Students Association), H-SOAR (Internship Program, HLC (Health Leadership Council), H-SSTAT (Health Science Students Taking Action Today), BrainSTEM, Coding/Robotics, and a variety of sports. Our school is open enrollment and lottery-based. This means that students do not have to have specific grades or test scores to qualify for the lottery. For more information about HISD’s magnet programs, please visit the School Choice site.Tours
