Quick Tips:
1. Impressions Matter - Dress comfortably but nicely. Shorts and tank tops are not appropriate. This is an important day, and dressing professionally is one simple way to show that you take it seriously.
2. Never Apologize - No matter what kind of day it has been, or why you haven’t been able to practice as much as you would have liked, audition day is no time for excuses. Rather, it is the time to rise to the occasion and play to the best of your ability. Think of it
in another context: how would you feel if the chef of a restaurant came out to your table to apologize for the quality of the food before you had even taken a bite?
3. Prepare and Practice - Preparing your music well in advance of the audition can be one of the strongest predictors of success. It can also be helpful to ‘practice’ auditioning. Hold your own mock audition with the help of your teacher or a family member.
