"In order to prepare Houston’s students for a world beyond the four walls of a classroom, HISD has launched PowerUp, a districtwide initiative aimed at transforming teaching and learning. PowerUp is about “powering up” all 282 of our schools to create a personalized learning environment for today’s 21st-century learners and to enable teachers to more effectively facilitate instruction, manage curriculum, collaborate with their peers, and engage today’s digitally wired students. A key component of HISD’s PowerUp initiative is ensuring that our schools, students, and staff have equitable access to technology –including devices, software, and infrastructure—which support 21st century teaching and learning. With greater access to technology also comes the need for educators and parents to work together to help students understand how the digital world works." - HISD PowerUp
The PowerUp fee is $25 and can be paid here.

Laptop Will Not Turn On?
For HISD laptops, we recommend restarting the device every 2–3 days. This allows HISD updates to install properly and helps prevent many common issues.
If your laptop does not turn on, please try the following steps before contacting us. If you see any lights near the charging port, refer to the troubleshooting guide below.
Troubleshooting Steps:
- Hold the Power Button down for 30 seconds to ensure the laptop is completely powered off.
- Wait 10 seconds, then try turning the laptop back on.
- Charging Port Light Indicators:
- Solid Orange/Amber Light – The laptop is charging.
- Blinking Orange/Amber Light – The battery is extremely low; charge it for a few hours.
- Blinking White Light (9 times) – The laptop has likely been damaged due to impact (e.g., dropping). The system board is affected, and the device needs to be brought in for repair.
- Blinking Orange & White Light – Hold down the Power button until both lights turn off.
If your laptop still does not turn on after following these steps, please contact Mr. Rodriguez for further assistance.
