    Just a bit about me...

I was born in Portland, Oregon, and lived in Anchorage, Alaska in Middle School and High School.  I worked in healthcare and insurance in Seattle while pursuing my undergraduate education.  I then completed my Bachelor of Arts at Arizona State University in Elementary Education.  This will be my fifteenth year of teaching.  In my first three years of teaching, I taught all subjects in 6th Grade and 3rd Grade at a neighborhood school in Mesa, Arizona.  TH Rogers has been home for the past 12 years and I am thrilled to teach our enthusiastic students and work with their supportive parents.

Every year I try to improve my teaching and develop my leadership skills.  I have been lucky to be part of many high-quality educational experiences such as the Sally Ride Academy for Teachers,  Rice University Summer Math Program, Baylor's Science Leadership Collaborative, and Harvard University's Project Zero Classroom for the second year.  Additionally, I have worked as a faculty member for the National Science Resource Center.  In the summer of 2015, Mrs. Hearne and I traveled to Seattle for the annual convening of teacher leaders from around the country called "Elevating and Celebrating Excellence in Teaching and Teachers".  It was so inspiring to learn from and collaborate with some of the best teachers in the country.

I spend most of my spare time with my family.  My husband, Constantine, and I have a son, Eli, in fifth grade at Askew Elementary and a daughter, Lyla, entering 3rd grade at Askew.  I am an avid reader, enjoy doing yoga, and recently became a certified yoga instructor through Breathe For Change.  We also love eating good food, swimming and spending time with friends.

I am passionate about teaching and view it as a serious responsibility.  I try very hard to think from the perspective of the student and the parent, as well as the teacher.  Please know that I am open to suggestions, feedback, resources, etc.  I believe that I am a member of a team that includes myself, my students, and their families.  With effort from all team members, the student will be supported and successful.  If you ever need anything, do not hesitate to contact me.

I am looking forward to a great year!
