• Harvard Students are Global Thinkers

The students that attend Harvard Elementary School are preparing themselves for the future. They are becoming internationally-minded global citizens that care about each other, the community and the environment. Through the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) they are exposed to a new way of thinking about the world in general. Over the past several years, they have taken part in IB Action Projects such as building a school in Kenya in a partnership with Free the Children; partnering with other schools to provide a well for fresh drinking water at a school in Uganda; providing canned goods to a neighborhood food bank - The Mainstream Connection; collecting nearly 1,000 pairs of shoes to help the less fortunate around the world as part of Soles for Souls; collecting funds for the Ronald McDonald House at Texas Children's Hospital; helping fund research at St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Memphis; collecting school supplies for PS 188 in Coney Island, Brooklyn to assist with Hurricane Sandy relief and starting over 200 seedlings to help reforest the Houston Arboretum.  We are also very proud of our student's academic accomplishments.  Nearly 90% read on or above grade level and those that need assistance are open-minded and readily accept interventions.
