ALL FINANCIAL AID APPLICATIONS OPEN OCTOBER 1ST OF YOUR SENIOR YEAR!

    FAFSA

The Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) is the application that students must complete to apply for federal student aid, which can be used to attend an eligible college or career school. Federal student aid includes Federal Pell Grants, federal student loans, and work-study opportunities. In addition to determining eligibility for federal student aid, many states, private organizations, colleges, and career schools rely on information from the FAFSA to determine eligibility for nonfederal sources of aid. FAFSA offers more than $150 billion in federal grants, loans and work-study funds each year to help millions of students pay for higher education. High school seniors who complete the FAFSA are 90 percent more likely to attend college.

Study.com has created an in-depth, expert verified Guide to FAFSA and Financial Aid to help all students in their journey to gaining a degree.

    TASFA

TASFA stands for the Texas Application for State Financial Aid. It’s meant for students who are ineligible for federal aid through FAFSA® who are Texas residents, and went to high school for at least three years in the state. These include, but are not limited to, foreign nationals, legal permanent residents, and eligible non-citizens. You can only apply for either FAFSA or TASFA, not both.

    CSS Profile

The CSS Profile is an online application that collects information used by nearly 400 colleges and scholarship programs to award non-federal aid. (For federal aid you must complete the FAFSA, available Oct. 1 at fafsa.ed.gov.) Some colleges may require the CSS Profile from both biological/adoptive parents in cases of divorce or separation.
