Working for Project GRAD, her responsibilities included the co-direction of Orchestras and instruction of violin, viola, cello, and double bass for students in grades K-5. Since 2013 she works as Orchestra Director & Music Teacher here at Crockett Elementary Magnet School for the Performing and Visual Arts in HISD. Ms. Lucas is an active freelance musician, private lessons instructor, and co-owner of Sassafras Studio.
From Ms. Lucas:
“I am filled with joy about our new school year! We’ve started our group music class journey with the Pre K & Kindergarten General Music classes and are continuing the music journey with our Crockett Orchestra students (violin, viola, cello, and double bass). We have many wonderful experiences planned for this year including our Winter and Spring Concerts and some fun field lessons and performances. For interested parents of our many beginning orchestra students, here are two slide presentations that outline many activities we will be covering in Orchestra Classes, depending on the age and abilities of the students. Do feel free to contact me with any questions at llucas@houstonisd.org.“
