Dr. Linda Velasquez has been working in public education for more than 45 years. She received her Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction as well as her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Applied Linguistics from the University of Houston-Main Campus. She has worked in Houston I.S.D. as an ESL, English, Reading, and Spanish teacher at the Middle School level as well as a Secondary ESL Consultant, grant writer, curriculum writer, and a Title VII Program Coordinator. She is currently an Advanced Placement teacher of Spanish, the World Languages Department Chair, and Dual Language & ESL Coordinator at Burbank Middle School. She also founded the "Las Aguilas de Oro" Ballet Folklorico as well as the Cinco de Mayo Celebration Program, which celebrated its 36th anniversary in 2023.
Dr. Velasquez has been committed to the Burbank community for more than 35 years, working to ensure that each Burbank student has the skills and opportunities necessary to achieve his or her highest personal goals.
