Ms. Calyen is a native of Houston, Texas. She recently earned her bachelor's degree from Prairie View A&M University. She has stated that helping students grow their knowledge in education was what motivated her to be a teacher. She greatly enjoys helping others and bringing creativity to the classroom. She would love to tell her students that no matter your gender, skin color, or beliefs, "everyone has a place in the world for them to succeed". 

In her free time, Ms. Calyen loves making jewelry and creative homemade items.

Ms. Calyen joined Burbank's Math team in the 7th grade Vanguard Academy at the end of the school year 2023-2024. She is now beginning her second year as a proud Burbank Eagle!
