Gifted and Talented Students
Tanglewood Middle School is a neighborhood Vanguard campus providing G/T services for all Houston ISD G/T-identified students. Gifted and Talented Programs are designed for students who excel in general intellectual ability, in combination with creative/productive thinking and/or leadership ability. G/T students study the same curriculum as other students, but their work is modified in depth, complexity, and pacing compared to the work being conducted in general education classes.
At Tanglewood, all G/T-identified students are served in Pre-AP classes. Additional testing may be required to enter the program on a case-by-case basis.
Tanglewood is currently applications for G/T identification. It’s as easy as 1-2-3 to apply! Here’s how:
1. Discuss your academic and test performance with your family. Are your scores above average?
2. Fill out the application completely. Tanglewood has access to your records so you do not have to submit them.
3. Ask a teacher to complete the observation form and return to the school counselor.
To download a G/T application, please click on the appropriate link below. The application takes 5-10 minutes to complete. Before starting, if your child is a current HISD student, please locate their HISD student ID number on a report card or by calling the school.
