My name is Sonya R. Wilson-Jackson. I’ve been on this amazing teaching journey for 25 years. Investing in children’s futures has brought dividends too numerous to count. Being an educator of excellence is unique and very challenging, yet vibrant and beautiful. I’ve had the pleasure of being Gifted and Talented Lead coordinator,Team Lead, Critical Thinking/ Social Studies Lead, and Mentor over the span of years. My hobbies include travel, party planning, Art, etc.

I am a resolute and enthusiastic kindergarten teacher with over 20 years of experience in early childhood education. I hold a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from The University of Louisiana at Lafayette. I am currently holding the title, “Teacher of the Year” for 2023-2024.I believe in creating a nurturing and stimulating environment where young learners can thrive. I incorporate a variety of teaching methods to cater to different learning style, ensuring that each child feels valued and understood.

My name is Valerie Cervantes. I am so excited for this school year! I was born in Houston and attended HISD schools in the Near Northside community. I graduated from University of Houston- Downtown. This will be my fourth year teaching kindergarten here at Shadydale. In my free time I like to spend time with my friends and family and travel.
