Pershing Basketball
8th Grade – Coach Donato
Coach Donato has been coaching basketball at Pershing for 4 years. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 2020. He believes that a persistent and an unrelenting work ethic are essential to becoming greater students, athletes and young adults.
7th Grade – Coach Blanchard
We have Student Athlete expectations. Grades: STUDENT comes BEFORE the athlete. Pershing basketball athletes must adhere to academic standards for UIL participation. This includes passing with a grade of 70 in all classes in order to participate. If a student is ineligible due to grades, they will also sit out practices, and will be required to attend at least 1 day of tutorials a week.
We will make our best effort to prepare our students to be their best every single day with the choices they make. Both on and off the court, athletes are expected to participate, be respectful to all faculty, staff, parents and fans. We will work hard to improve and develop both as leaders and young men.
Tryout Information: Normally held the end of October/early November (depending on when fall sports finish up their seasons).
Equipment: Athletic shoes for the basketball court and running shoes that can be used outside. Athletic shorts/pants and shirt.
Practices: Practices are held from 4-6pm Monday through Wednesday
Games: 7th grade is Thursdays at 6pm and 8th grade is Thursdays at 7pm. Athletes must remain with the team during both away and home games. Athletes must ride the bus as a team to away game locations, where parents may take their child home after checking out with either coach.
