               The Maritime Academy @ Jack Yates High School offers students the training to enter an industry with a wide variety of jobs that may require short-term training and education or to pursue a college degree in a discipline like transportation, logistics, distribution or engineering.

    Graduates of the Yates Maritime Academy are now able to enroll in top transportation, logistics and maritime programs across nation, such as U.S. Military Academies,Texas A&M University, University of Texas, Texas Southern University, San Jacinto Maritime College and Houston Community College.

    Upon graduation, students are prepared to (1) Enter a leading transportation, maritime, and logistic programs at multiple universities. (2) Enroll in a top trade school to prepare for a career as a heavy equipment technician, plumber, or mechanic, welder and (3) obtain a high paying entry-level job in the industry. 

     

    Career Certification Possible

    Students can earn a Logistic Associate and / or Logistic Technician Certificate which is heavily sought by employers. In addition, the student will also have an opportunity to receive their Forklift Certification. They can also obtain assistance in gaining the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) required for working in the maritime industry.
