HISD Holiday Card Challenge 2016
Each year, HISD holds one of the most competitive Art Contests, The Holiday Card Challenge. Eighty schools around HISD are asked to choose just one holiday card design to submit for judging. This was extremely difficult for me this year because of all the beautiful designs that my students made. After asking several colleagues for input, we chose seventh grader Dalila Gutierrez's card for the challenge.

We were lucky that her sweet and cute design was one of the finalists. Because of that, we were invited to attend the awards presentation which was held on November 7, 2016 at the Hattie Mae White Building. Mrs. Cortina, Dalila, her mother Marylin Espinosa, and myself enjoyed the beautiful reception there which honored Dalila as well as many other talented young artists from all over the district. Dalila is one of many talented artists here at Burbank Middle School. Please join me in congratulating Dalila on her achievement!
Sincerely,
Ms. Parsons
