    AND BURBANK MIDDLE SCHOOL: 

    "PLANTING SEEDS OF SUCCESS"

    "Planting the Seeds of Success" is exactly what two teachers, Juan Monsivais and Carmen Parra, did on March 22, 2012. Burbank Middle School 6th graders, Trees for Houston, and 30 volunteers from W & T Offshore Company based in Houston, Texas, planted 20 beautiful new trees on the side of our school. Casey Scribner and Jessica Keener from Trees for Houston not only donated the 20 trees, but also provided a hands-on mini-lesson to our students on the types of soil, how to properly apply mulch after planting, how to maintain the life of a tree and the importance of giving back and beautifying their school and our community. Trees for Texas has also committed to coming to Burbank periodically and water our trees. The Burbank community will now be able to enjoy the trees for years to come!

    Mrs. Hernandez led the way, digging the hole where to plant our second tree, with students ready to take over when the planting time comes. In the pictures below you will see some of our Administration team as well as teachers also digging away! We can see Mr. Knittle, Ms. Ferrell, Ms. Okopide, Ms. Parra, Mr. Monsivais, Ms. Vasquez, and Ms. Howell. It's all for the beautification of our campus and the good of our environment!

    At the end of the day we gave our guests a token of our appreciation and hope that this will be "the beginning of a beautiful friendship".
