• HCC Level 1 Certificates & Other Academic Courses

     

    Level 1 Certificates

    Austin HS, through a partnership with HCC offers students the opportunity to develop specialized, industry-relevant training while earning a Level 1 Certificate in the following areas:

    These free Dual Credit college classes start in 11th grade, however students begin their preparation for this work in 9th grade.

    Other Academic Courses 

    Students in the Education Pathway may begin Academic Dual Credit courses starting in 10th grade.  Click here for more information.

     

    Seniors can get a jump start on earning free college credits by completing the following courses:

    • Government 2305 – Fall
    • Introduction to Psychology 2301 – Spring

    These courses can be applied to the Texas Common Core curriculum and transfer to any public institution in Texas.

    Students will need to demonstrate college readiness through one of the following measures:

    • The TSI Assessment: Essay, minimum score of 4; Reading, minimum score of 351; Writing, minimum score of 340
    • SAT® – EBRW 480 or higher
    • ACT® - English 19 & Composite 23 or higher
    • PSAT/NMSQT® – EBRW 460 or higher
    • STAAR EOC English II – 4000 or higher

     

     

    UT OnRamps Courses

     

    These free college level courses are open to all academically prepared and interested students.  On Ramps courses can be applied to the Texas Common Core curriculum and transfer to any public institution in Texas.

    • OnRamps Introduction to Rhetoric: Reading, Writing and Research – RHE 306 (Fall), Reading and Writing the Rhetoric of American Identity – RHE 309K (Spring) → English 3
    • OnRamps Discovery PreCalculus - M305G → PreCalculus
    • OnRamps Mechanics, Heat, and Sound- PHYS 1301- Physics
