    Attendance

Mr. Buck said that it is not going well for some classes. Ms. Walker said that there are a lot of illnesses going around. Ms. Walker said she could do some hygiene classes in the classrooms about hand washing. We will reinforce with the teachers to reinforce with their classes. Ms. Walker also said that the carpets need to be replaced. Ms. Keafer brought up having perfect attendance on the announcements.

    Safety and Abuse

If you have firsthand knowledge of something to report to CPS we need to report. If you suspect anything about abuse or neglect always act on the side of caution. Mr. Buck said that there were arrests at Sharpstown High School because of failure to report neglect and abuse and we do not want the same thing to happen here. Nobody can report on our behalf. You can report together and write multiple names. Anything that you have reason to believe there is an issue, you need to report. If you do not report and other people do, then you could get in trouble and there could be repercussions.

    School Wide Rules

The committee looked over the Classroom Rules that Mr. Buck presented to us from Woodson. After reviewing Ms. Keafer and Ms. Garson said to use the 7 Habits instead of introducing new vocabulary. We edited the rules and tied them to the 7 habits. The main focus will be to think-win win so we can all win! Ms. Keafer and Ms. Camacho will work together to try to get the rules done and drafted on Wednesday, December 18, 2013.

    Caught Doing Good

Mrs. Adair is still accepting donations and the program is going well. She reminded everyone to make sure teachers bring the tickets with them in the hallways. She also reminded us about the faculty caught doing good!

    200 Club

Mr. Buck had a great idea that he saw at training he went to earlier this week. Each day there are 10 tickets that teachers get to give to any student in the hallway. The student then goes to the office and the office immediately calls home to tell the parent about the positive thing that the student did. The student is then put on a board and then each group of 10 students gets a pizza party or a special prize.

    Dismissal

Mr. Buck said that a lot of people really liked the way dismissal was on report card day. Ms. Garson said that it was a good system because parents can meet with teachers quickly and have quick discussions. Ms. Keafer also said that it is very difficult in terms of parking and parents might get sick of coming in and getting students. The report card day was good, but we will have to look into scheduling. Mrs. Adair said that parents came in and took their kids and at 3:00 teachers brought the students to the cafeteria and the parents would come to pick them up in the cafeteria. The TAs would stay with the students and sign them out in the cafeteria. A pro of doing the change in dismissal would be students can work in the classrooms until the parents come. It would be difficult to change the dismissal now in the year, but it’s something to consider for next year.

    District Funds

We have 10,000 more dollars than expected because of student enrollment.

    Breakfast with Santa

Breakfast with Santa and the sweet shop are on Saturday.

    Printers

Mr. Buck is ordering new colored printers for each grade level as part of the extra funds we received from enrollment

    Construction

Mr. Buck said that there needs to be approval on the bathroom being co-ed. There are concerns that there are not enough restrooms. We discussed using the restroom that you want and making an announcement that everyone should be considerate and keep the restrooms clean. We decided that the bathrooms will be co-ed.

    Floors and Power

Floors will be taken up over the break and power should be turned off before Christmas break. Concerns should still be emailed to Mr. Buck.

    Lighthouse Team

Lighthouse team will be helping with the meeting tomorrow for early dismissal.

    Staffing

We are still looking for a third grade bilingual teacher. It is possible that there will be people graduating in December that might be looking for a job.

    Dual Language

Mr. Buck wants to do the Dual Language program starting next year in Pre-K, Kindergarten, and First grade where all grade levels are dual language. These classes would be taught 50/50. Mr. Buck thinks that this would be a good marketing tool for the program.

    Mission Southwest

Jeff and Fred are putting together a strategic plan. He talked to St. Andrews and there are some mentors that are here. They are from St. Andrews Presbyterian. Mr. Chenoweth can approach some of the U of H student organizations to get them to work with Mission Southwest. He has approval to reach out to secular organizations.

    HeadStart

NCI and did some investment and there is money that they will use to have staff come together and improve the collaborations that they are working with and making the organization better. They are trying to think of different collaborations with schools they have done.
