Ms. Walker passed out the field day schedule. Sack lunches will be coming to your classroom. They will deliver the milk. Teachers will fill out a form saying what kind of milk their students want with their lunch. Schedules will be passed out at the end of the day today. Structured play is out in the parking lot. Teachers will need to park in the back by the maintenance building and park on the street, but watch for signs. Mr. Buck says to give Ms. Walker special thanks because she has gotten the field day together for us. Mr. Jimenez brought up in school suspension. Mr. Buck said to have one person for the grade level stay with the students who have the in school suspension.
Teaching and Learning
Teaching and learning still needs to be going on. Mr. Buck went into some classes and it looked like it was the last day of school, so make sure instruction is still going on.

Activity Funds
Mr. Buck passed out the Activity Funds. Willow Meadows gave us a big donation, so the funds look good. Now is the time to start collecting textbooks now. The general revenue is right about $13,000. If textbooks are not returned the state requires you to take the money out of the budget and that money will be taken out of next year’s grade level fund. Money for grade level can be used for prizes and incentive.
Seven Habits
Mr. Buck said that for the rest of the year it will be tight because we had to pay $6,000 to pay for the total cost of the grant in in-kind costs. The total grant is $50,000. The money has to be paid within 30 days of receiving the grant. We are running short of school funds.
After School
After School will be ending this Thursday, May 16th and teachers will no longer be teaching in after school. Ms. Spring said she would communicate with working parents to make sure that they have something figured out for after school care for their kids. There will be some exceptions. Ms. Spring said that she has 2 service providers so she will only be able to do 35 kids MAX. Parents who need care for their children will need to fill out a form that includes proof of employment information.
Construction
Mr. Buck said that boxes will arrive tomorrow. Textbooks will be left in the classroom in boxes. The movers will be here on June 9th. We will have registration here in the Library. There will probably not be registration in July. Teachers will wait until Ms. Camacho scans the books, then leave the books in the room in boxes. Boxes need to be labeled with the grade level and room number. Mr. Buck said that we would probably be coming back the day before the kids come back.
Pre-K Registration Meeting
The meeting will still take place August 7th. This will be a mandatory meeting. We are not sure where the meeting will take place, but it will take place.
Attendance
Mr. Buck said to push for attendance these last few days. Push a party at the end of the year for students perfect attendance.
Professional Development
Mr. Buck said that the District will only be taking 4 days of the second week. We will be using the grant for Seven Habits for 3 days. Teacher work day will not be changed.
Academics
Make sure that everyone is focused on objectives. We still have 17 days of instruction. Do some fun learning projects. Work on English. Mr. Buck said that he would be ok with swap outs. If teachers want to teach different grades and swap out to get to know the grade below, that would be a good idea.
Policy Manual Changes
Mr. Buck brought up changes that we will have to the manual for next year. Report cards policy will change; Ms. Garson will draft the policy. Report cards will need to be picked up from the teacher. Communication folder will go home on Wednesday. This will be a Shearn folder and it will only go home on those days.
Title I Meetings
Mr. Buck wants teachers to come present at the Title I meetings next school year. Kindergarten meeting- October and May, November- 1st grade, January- 4th grade, February- 5th grade, March- 3rd grade, April- 2nd grade.
Dress Code for Teachers
Mr. Buck said that teachers will not be allowed to wear hats to school and that will be a changed policy in the dress code.
Parental Involvement
Mr. Buck said that there will be at least one member of each grade level that will need to attend each of the 5 events and all teachers must attend at least 3 of the 5 events that happen next year: Fall Carnival, Fall Academic Carnival, Winter Program, Pictures with Santa, Spring Academic Carnival.
Math
Mr. Jimenez said that there will be information on the new TEKS for PreK-2nd throughout the summer. If the teachers are thinking about strategies for next year, have students use graph notebooks in the younger grades.
Reading
Mrs. Adair reminded teachers to tell their students about the Millionaire Club so that they remember to read over the summer.
Testing
Mrs. Adair said that the TPRI and Tejas Lee parent reports will be sent home this week. The parent reports for High Frequency Word Evaluation will be sent home this week as well.
Mission Southwest
Mr. Chenoweth said that Mission Southwest is working with 30 churches to network. They have made a flyer about the program and mentoring students. There are references listed that they can contact, one is Mr. Buck and the principal at Rodriguez Elementary. Mr. Buck wants to invite the mentors to come to the Seven Habits Training so they understand and use the language.
Head Start
Mrs. Almaraz will be sending home end of year surveys next week. Loly wants to have a meeting with the Pre-K teachers to wrap up. Head Start will be helping the Pre K teachers pack up their classes and the teachers will let them know what day is best.
Parents
School Supply Lists can be different this year. The supplies will be ordered and be delivered to the child’s home. The supplies will be ordered online. The school will make 20% on the value of the pack. The supplies will be ordered from EPI (Educational Products Inc.) Teachers will need to get in grade level lists to Ms. Walker a week from Friday on May 24, 2013. School shirts could be sold as a fundraiser. We discussed doing purple polos with embroidery.
