Footsteps to Your Loss
by Janeal Canizares
You remember how yesterday was. You had followed Drear to this “golden place” full of treasure. You didn’t know what he was planning, but now you know...he was leading you to your loss.
Both you and Drear walked down a forest, and you saw areas of which seemed trustworthy, but he insisted. He told you there was a place much more golden than those. Somehow, you trusted him.
Now, you both stood looking down at a pit.
“How is this golden?” you asked.
Drear didn’t answer but only grinned, yet that told you enough...And, with his shove, you fell in, forever to be lost.
The Orphanage Escape: The Poor Struggles and Attempts of an Escaping Child
by Janeal Canizares
To escape, you must be swift. Don’t rush, panic, or cry. If you lose, it’s final: you can never leave again. I knew it wasn’t easy, but how else could I escape? I just hoped for the best, hoped I’d escape this cruel orphanage. I wish leaving was a simple task. Simply leaving, nothing else needed.
But the needs of a human are annoying when trying to leave.
Growling stomach, thirst for water, drooping eyes...I wanted a home. How can a child do this themselves? Then, a light shone on me. I... didn’t lose! Nobody noticed me.
I won.
