    BURBANK MIDDLE SCHOOL LIBRARY

Burbank Middle School's Library sponsored its first Poetry Contest during the first week of May. The contest was organized by our librarian, Ms. Amanda Garza. Students from all grade levels and academies were invited to submit their entries to Ms. Garza. She then created a Google document where our faculty were able to read the contributions and vote. Ms. Garza was happy to announce that we had many entries from all grade levels. These are the winners:

  • IN A LAND OF LAUGHTER AND CHEER

In a land of laughter and cheer, where humor danced from ear to ear,

There lived a poet with words so bright,

Whose verses brought smiles day and night.

With wit as sharp as a jester’s sword,

He spun tales that left us all floored,

From silky cats in fancy hats,

To chickens crossing roads with acrobat acts.

His rhymes were like tickles, impossible to resist,

Tickling our funny bones with every twist,

And as we hugged him with tears in our eyes,

    We couldn’t help but realize.

That life’s too short to be taken too seriously,

So let’s embrace humor, oh so deliriously.

  • In dreams we soar,

    In stars we gleam,

Life’s journey flows like a winding stream.

    Embrace each moment,

    Let worries fade,

In this small note, a world is made.

  • Star dreams

  • Planet Earth

  • Well, why don’t you look at THAT!

    The planet named EARTH!

    Isn’t it beautiful?

    Isn’t it glorious?

It’s true I’m not from there,

For I come from planet V.02.

    But what does that matter?

    Go ahead…

    WELCOME TO EARTH!
