• The Annoying Birds

    • The Annoying Birds

      by Janeal Canizares

Before the baker had baked his cake,

He was screaming his lungs out.

At the noisy birds pecking at his window.

      While he did so,

He was red in the face–

he nearly looked like a bright cherry,

But the birds kept gawking and squawking.

Before the musician had played his best song yet,

He groaned in frustration in his bedroom.

He knew he should have been in his station,

But before he had even got his guitar,

He heard those noisy, noisy, NOISY,

      Annoying, ANNOYING, rattle-rattle BIRDS!

Before the dancer had swayed in the wind,

She glared at the disturbing birds.

      She was dressed in red,

      Clearly ready for the show,

but then the birds swooped in.

Before the birds stole the singer’s role,

The tallest bird with a huge cap on his head

      screamed at the dancer.

“Squawk, squawk, squawk!” yelled the bird

While the other bird got ready to sing.

“Why, why, why?” thought the dancer,

“Can you NOT let me dance?”

                Before the fisher had caught

      A whole ton of fish,

He nearly cried–all blue in the face–

       Because–oh,

      Where are his FISHES?

He had lost the beautiful green fish,

      The rare red fish,

      The beautiful blue fish,

And the biggest salmon no one

      Has ever caught!

      Before he wept and wept,

He shook his head in dismay,

For he heard the birds’ squawk…

Just one squawk was enough to tell

      Him what had happened.

Before the little boy had scolded his friends,

He ran all around his town.

      He was dearly panicked–

Where are his birds; where did they go–,

For he had lost his birds.

“Jerry, Larry, and Sherry,” he cried,

      “Come back to me, please!”

He had no clue where they were

Before he saw the rattle in town.

He saw the baker, musician, dancer,

      And the fisher

All grouped talking about the annoying,

      Annoying, ANNOYING birds...earlier today...

And the little boy’s cheeks turned red

      In the deepest embarrassment

      He never knew.

    • The Patient Child

      By Alessandro Estrada

A little kid with big ambitions
Had dreams that soared to great heights
      He followed them with determination
For he knew they were his guiding lights

With every step, he took with patience
He knew that things take time to bloom
He knew he had to face the challenges
But never let them bring him to gloom

For years he toiled and kept on going
Never once did he lose sight
Of the dreams that kept him moving
Through every hurdle, he put up a fight

The roads were long, and the journey tough
But he never gave up, he never quit
With each setback, he grew more resilient
For his dreams, he was willing to commit

The world around him may have doubted
But he stayed true to his heart's call
He believed that one day, he'll make it
And that day will be his greatest downfall

The years went by, and he kept on chasing
His dreams that seemed far away
But he never stopped, he never surrendered
For he knew in hard work, there's no shortcut way

And then one day, his efforts paid off
His dreams turned into a reality
He stood tall, amidst all the doubters
For he had achieved his true destiny

His patience had brought him to this moment
For he never gave up, no matter how hard
      He had become an inspiration
To those who once thought his dreams were too far

Through his journey, he learned a valuable lesson
That dreams are meant to be chased with patience
And when the reward finally comes knocking
It makes every moment of struggle, worth the sentence

So to all the dreamers out there
Never lose hope, never give in
Be patient, for your time will come
And your dreams will be yours to win.
