The HISD “Caught in the Act” or “CIA” video campaign recognizes highly effective HISD teachers who are delivering instruction that will lead to students becoming Global Graduates — young men and women who possess the skills necessary to ensure success in college and the ability to compete in today’s global workforce.
Throughout the 2015–2016 school year, the HISD video team, along with Chief Elementary Curriculum and Instruction Officer Lance Menster or Chief Secondary Curriculum and Instruction Officer Annie Wolfe, will be dropping in on classrooms across the district to observe and point out examples of effective instruction based on the six qualities of the Global Graduate profile: adaptable and productive, a leader, a responsible decision-maker, a skilled communicator, a critical thinker, and a college-ready learner.
In addition to recognizing great teaching, district and school leaders can use the video vignettes as a professional development tool to help other teachers grow and develop. Click here for a CIA Video Protocol sheet to use with staff.
Teachers can be nominated for the video series by chiefs, school support officers, principals, and teacher development specialists. To nominate someone, please send an email to HISDcia@houstonisd.org.
