April 26, 2025: District #2 Results
Posted by Mark Niles on 5/2/2025 9:30:00 AMWe are excited to share the results from HISD’s A+ UIL District #2 Tournament, which took place on April 26, 2025, at Hartman Middle School! This event marked the conclusion of our 2024–2025 UIL A+ season, and we’re proud to celebrate the hard work of over 700 students from 36 schools who came together to compete in a wide range of academic events.
A huge thank you goes out once again to Principal Zavala, Assistant Principal Dr. Lewis, Ms. Calvillo, and Ms. Nelly for their exceptional support and hospitality. Your teamwork and dedication helped make this tournament a success.
This event closed out an incredible year of academic growth and achievement for HISD’s elementary and middle school students. We are deeply grateful to all the students, coaches, parents, judges, and staff who supported our program throughout the season.
As we look ahead to the 2025–2026 school year, schools should be on the lookout for the UIL Participation Package forms, which will be released soon. These forms are required to sign up and take part in next year’s competitions.

March 22, 2025 -- District #1 Results
Posted by Mark Niles on 3/28/2025 9:30:00 AMWe are excited to share the results from HISD’s A+ UIL District #1 Tournament, which took place on March 22, 2025, at Hartman Middle School! This was our first district championship of the year, and we are incredibly proud of the 749 students from 36 schools who competed across various academic events.
A huge thank you to Principal Zavala, Assistant Principal Dr. Lewis, Ms. Calvillo, and Ms. Nelly for their outstanding support in hosting this event. Your hospitality helped make this tournament a success!
Looking ahead, District #2—the final tournament of the year—will take place on April 26, 2025, also at Hartman Middle School. We look forward to another fantastic day of academic competition as we close out the season!

February 8, 2025 Tournament Results
Posted by Mark Niles on 2/14/2025 9:30:00 AMWe are pleased to share that our fourth A+ UIL Academics event of the year was successfully hosted at Sterling High School on February 8, 2025. A heartfelt thank you goes to Principal Tannisha Gentry, Assistant Principal Mr. Bland, and Mr. Freer for their incredible support and efforts in getting the event up and running. Their hospitality was key to the success of this tournament. I also wanted to thank Devin Baltazar and Don Hernandez for running the event!
A total of 33 schools and 704 students participated in a day filled with academic challenges and incredible performances. The energy and dedication of these young scholars was truly inspiring, and we couldn't be more proud of their achievements.
Looking ahead, our next tournament will be the first of our two district tournaments, which will be hosted on March 22, 2025, at Hartman Middle School. We can’t wait to see you there!

January 11, 2025 Results

A heartfelt thank you goes to Principal Gonzalez, Assistant Principal Ms. Gardner, and UIL Coordinator Ms. Le for their incredible support and hospitality, which played a huge role in making this tournament a success.
The event welcomed 744 students from 34 schools, who competed in a day packed with academic challenges and outstanding performances. It was inspiring to witness the enthusiasm and dedication of these young scholars as they showcased their talents.
We are now gearing up for the next tournament on February 8, 2025, at Sterling High School. Be sure to mark your calendars and join us for another exciting day of academic excellence!

December 7, Results
Posted by Mark Niles on 12/12/2024 9:30:00 AMOn December 7, 2024, we wrapped up the year with our second A+ UIL Academics event, hosted at Paul Revere Middle School. A huge thank you to Principal Moody and Dr. Riley for their incredible hospitality and support in making this event a success.
Despite the cold and rainy weather, over 730 students from 32 schools braved the elements to compete in a day filled with academic excitement and outstanding performances. It was truly inspiring to see the dedication and resilience of these young scholars.
As we close out 2024, we’re excited to announce that the A+ UIL Academics season will resume in the new year! Join us on January 11, 2025, at Ortiz Middle School for the first event of 2025.
Thank you to all the parents, coaches, students, judges, and staff who made this event possible. Your efforts are the heart of these tournaments, and we couldn’t do it without you.

October 26, Results
Posted by Mark Niles on 11/1/2024 9:30:00 AMOn October 26, 2024, we kicked off the 2024-2025 A+ UIL Academics season with our first event, held at Frank Black Middle School. A huge thank you to the Frank Black team for their warm hospitality and support in making this event possible.
We were thrilled to host 12 elementary schools with a total of 276 students and 8 middle schools with 182 students, totaling 458 enthusiastic participants. The students showcased their skills and dedication, making it a memorable start to the season.
Looking ahead, our next event will be held on December 7 at Paul Revere Middle School, where middle school debate competitions will be taking place alongside the main tournament.
Thank you to all the parents, coaches, students, judges, and staff who contributed their time and efforts to make this event a success. Your support and dedication are vital to the success of these tournaments!

We're thrilled to announce the exhilarating conclusion of our 6th and final A+ UIL tournament of the season, held once again at the fantastic venue of Hartman Middle School! Our heartfelt thanks extend to Hartman Middle School and its remarkable staff for their unwavering support and hospitality throughout the event. We couldn't have asked for a better host.
The energy and passion displayed by the 779 students representing 37 schools have once again left us in awe. Each participant brought their unique talents and determination, contributing to the vibrant atmosphere of academic excellence that defines our UIL tournaments.
As we wrap up another year of rigorous competition and intellectual growth, it's essential to take a moment to celebrate the journey we've undertaken together. We're thrilled to announce the exhilarating culmination of our 5th A+ UIL tournament of the season, held at Hartman Middle School! Our sincere gratitude extends to Hartman Middle School and its dedicated staff for their exceptional support and hospitality throughout the event. Without their cooperation, this successful tournament wouldn't have been possible.
The enthusiasm and commitment displayed by the 736 students representing 39 schools truly showcased immense talent. Among them were 24 elementary schools and 15 middle schools, contributing to the vibrant atmosphere of academic excellence.
As we wrap up this tournament, we're proud to declare the winners as our District Champions. Their hard work and dedication have propelled them to the top. But hold onto your hats because the excitement doesn't stop here! Our journey continues on May 4th with our 2nd District Championship, also to be hosted at Hartman.

On Saturday, January 20, 2024, the vibrant spirit of competition converged at Frank Black Middle School as it graciously hosted the 3rd UIL A+ Academics Meet. The school's warm hospitality set the perfect stage for a day filled with intellect and camaraderie. The need to utilize both the cafeteria and auditorium was a testament to the growing enthusiasm for academic engagement this school year.
With over 800 students representing 39 schools in attendance, the event was a resounding success, even as the Saturday morning temperatures dipped below freezing. The competition, however, ignited a blaze of determination and skill among the participants, turning a chilly day into a fiery display of academic prowess.
As we reflect on the accomplishments of the day, we eagerly anticipate the upcoming event scheduled for Saturday, February 17, hosted at the esteemed Clifton Middle School.
