As an Officer and Corporal, I continued to conduct myself in accordance with high ethical standards both on and off duty.

Karl Brown - Patrol/ERT
I am a native of Houston, Texas and a 1984 graduate of Charles H. Milby Sr. High School. Immediately after graduation, I enlisted in the United State Marine Corps to proudly serve my country. After completing basic training at MCRD San Diego, California my first parent command was in the West Pacific. Between numerous deployments I was assigned to the 9th Engineering Support Battalion in Okinawa, Japan where I studied Shorin-Ryu Karate under the linage of the Shimabukuro family. As time progressed, I continued to study and become increasingly proficient in self-defense, crime prevention, and tragedy avoidance tactical systems such as:
- The United States Marine Corps Linear Infighting Neural Engagement Combat System
- The Israeli Krav Maga Defense System Law Enforcement Instructor Program (Santa Monica, California)
As a resident of Southern California, I had the unfortunate experience of witnessing multiple acts of aggressive criminal behavior to include the thoughtless and senseless shooting of a 14-year-old female. The fatal incident eventually became the primary driving force that motivated me to become a law enforcement officer help with thew protection of kids.
I attended Gus George Law Enforcement Law Enforcement Academy in Fort Bend, Texas and began my career in law enforcement shortly afterwards. To name a few of my tactical related certifications to date please view below:
- 18-year police veteran/Master Peace Officer
- L.E.R.R.T. Instructor (Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training)
- L.I.C.E. Instructor (Alert Lockdown Inform Counter Evacuate)
- Homeland Security Active Shooter Instructor
- Force on Force Simunitions Instructor
- Dignitary Protection Instructor
- E. Firearms Instructor
- Tactical Cuffing, A.S.P. Baton, and Oleoresin Capsicum Instructor
- Aikido based Rape Aggression System Program Instructor
- Taser Instructor
Over the years I have come to believe that we allow ourselves to become part of the problem when we do not allow our skills to be used as part of the solution. I agree that it is necessary for a safe environment to exist for the teachers to teach, and students to learn.
